Following an introduction to traditional and new embroidery techniques by Desirée Hammen, participants will try out a variety of embroidery techniques themselves.
Desirée Hammen (1976) specialises in haute couture embroidery. She acquired her skills at the famous Lesage fashion house in Paris. She combines classic couture techniques with her own, freestlye approach. In her autonomous embroidery work she includes a wide range of materials, varying from semi-precious stones to 'found objects'. This respect for tradition, linked with an inclination towards innovation and research, is what makes Hammen's work so fresh.
